David and Charissa Smith, Pastor
During a time of prayer at a summer youth camp in Fenton, Michigan, David heard a distinct call from God to give his life to full-time ministry. After receiving the call from God, David spent the next eight years preparing himself spiritually and educationally for ministry.
In 1986, six hours after graduating from Lee University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Education, David married Charissa Thompson from Rossville, GA. Together, in September of 1986, they moved to Hazlehurst, GA where David became the pastor of Youth and Worship. During the summer of 1990, David felt God calling him to pastor in Colorado. By September 1990, they were in Pueblo and beginning their ministry work at Family Worship Center. Since then, David has completed a Master’s degree in Organizational Management.
David and Charissa speak of their ministry at Family Worship Center as God directed, and a God-given dream come true. For Pastor David, the joy of pastoring is seeing an individual accept Jesus as their Lord, then grow in Christ, and become a part of the ministry team of Family Worship Center. David’s vision for Family Worship Center is that of a spiritually healthy church that honors and pleases God. Charissa serves beside David in ministry and enjoys serving on the worship team and teaching a women’s Bible study. David enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time with his wife.

I minister in the church office. I strive to receive each person with whom I come in contact with the same love & compassion that we were shown 12 years ago.
